Wooden Jewellery Boxes

Shown in red meranti, the obvious main feature of this design is the 'Bargello' patterned lid.  To create the effect, thin strips of various woods of varying width are first laminated together and then cross cut and offset to create the staggered wave pattern.  Internally, the base could be solid polished wood, lined with cotton velvet, or real leather.  Brass locks, decorative catches and small magnets are various catch mechanisms as required.  Numerous design variations and wood types possible.

Oak Treasure Jewellery and Keepsake Boxes

Treasure box styles can be crafted in sizes to suit. To the left we have medium size boxes with the handmade hinges set both under (left) and over (right) the lid.  With the hinges set under the lid the full beauty and grain pattern of the lid is exposed.  The internal base is lined with cotton velvet or real leather.  These medium size boxes do not have a sliding tray.

This style of box has clean lines.  Dovetail joints make for very strong construction. Shown crafted from 20mm thick oak.  All boxes made to order and to size required.

Distressed Oak Treasure Jewellery and Keepsake Boxes

A wider (frontage) version of the oak treasure style of box.  These images show the box with optional external 'distressing' to give the box even more character.  With 'distressing' we think the handcrafted wooden hinges are best mounted under the lid - but hinges over the lid works well.  Options include sliding trays.

Keepsake A4-sized Box

A variation of the treasure style box, shown in oak, specifically designed as an A4-sized keepsake box.  With internal dimensions that give 1cm space a round A4 paper this box is possibly ideal for those paper-based keepsakes.  Shown with a solid base and handcrafted wooden hinges.

Replacing the internal handcrafted hinges with, say, brass barrel hinges (see page bottom) would maximize internal space.  A cotton velvet or real leather lined base would be another option.

Deep Oak Treasure Jewellery and Keepsake Boxes

A deeper version of the oak treasure style of box; possibly for all those extra jewels and other personal treasures. Shown with 2 sliding trays and black cotton velvet.

This style of custom wooden box has clean lines.  Shown with butt joints that have hidden internal reinforcement. Note with these particularly deep boxes the walls are crafted from joined wood.  Shown crafted from 20mm thick oak.  All boxes made to order and to size required.

Deep Oak Keepsake Boxes

A deeper keepsake box shown in oak.

As shown, this design has a polished oak base but, alternatively, a velvet lined based is an option.  Shown with robust brass hinges, 2 electro-brass lid stays and an electro-brass hasp & staple. As shown the walls are 20mm solid oak and the lid circa 18mm.  The lid and base comprise joined pieces of oak.  All boxes made to order and to size required.  Engraving a name or initials on the lid would really personalise the keepsake box.

Double Layer Cuff link/Ear Ring Box

A versatile custom wooden box shown adapted for a selection of cuff links or ear rings (or any other small item such as to hold a coin collection maybe).  Two sliding removable trays fitted with optional (removable) partitions coupled with either a plain space beneath to provide a jewellery solution or extra compartments.   Why not laser engrave for a very personal gift.  Sized to suit.  Left image shown in red meranti; right image in oak.

Alternate Double Layer Cuff link/Ear ring Box

Another variation of an oak box suitable for, say, jewellery or keepsake use where the lid is given handles that extend to the left and/or right through the side wall.  Oak box shown has both left and right handles.   Shown with 2 sliding trays and black cotton velvet.

Octagonal Jewellery-Keepsake Box

An unusual elongated octagonal box design that can be configured internally as required.  Shown with internal lid and base lined in cotton velvet and with 2 compartment dividers.  This box shown in elm and with handcrafted wooden hinges; brass barrel-hinges would be an alternative choice - see hinge types below.  Box also shown with optional 'distressing' to add even more character.   Sized to suit.  This box, we think, would look great in oak.

General Purpose Custom Box

A general purpose box shown in oak with dark wood trimming to the lid and box rim. The use of brass barrel hinges and a solid wood base give this box clean lines.   Why not laser engrave for a very personal gift.  Sized to suit. 

Box with Inlay Strips

Another general purpose box shown in amazakoue with contrasting oak inlay strips and a solid wood base. Polished with hard wax throughout.  Sized to suit.
