With a body in red meranti, the obvious main feature is the 'Bargello' patterned lid. To create the effect, thin strips of various woods of varying width are first laminated together and then cross cut and offset to create the staggered wave pattern .

Naturally, an elegant wooden box is the sum of its parts and, we believe, a key feature is the finish. Now it's a matter of personal choice and opinion whether a lacquered French polish type look is preferable to a more natural finish; at BespokeCraft we tend towards the natural look but strive to achieve that silk feel to the wood.

That Silk Finish on BespokeCraft jewellery boxes is primarily a process of several coats of wood oil, such as Danish Oil, with light abrasive smoothing in between followed by an application of hard Carnauba wax that is polished to a silk finish

Yew Treasure - Internal Hinges

A yew box with natural edged lid. With this style the handcrafted wooden hinges are mounted exposed on at the box rear but under the lid.
